MISO Interconnection Queue Map

Fifteen states of queue data on a map — with mapped points of interconnection, and parcel ownership where the footprint crosses Minnesota.

The only market where we map the points of interconnection

MISO runs from the Dakotas and Minnesota south to Louisiana, plus Manitoba, split into Midwest and South regions with limited transfer capability between them. It is also the one market where we carry points of interconnection as mapped geometry rather than as text in a queue row.

That distinction is practical. A queue entry names a point of interconnection, but a name is not a location you can screen against. With the POIs mapped you can see which specific interconnection points near a prospective site already carry queued capacity, instead of parsing substation names and hoping they match.

Where the footprint crosses our land data

MISO territory includes Minnesota, where we carry parcel boundaries and ownership. So in that part of the footprint the queue sits on top of the land layer and you can move from queued capacity to the owner of the ground nearby. Across the rest of MISO you get the queue intelligence without the parcel layer underneath it, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.

Everywhere in the footprint you get the timing intelligence. We re-pull the queue every fifteen minutes and keep each snapshot, so status changes and date movements are recorded with their previous values — which is how you notice that the projects ahead of you in a study cycle are slipping.

What Sungarden loads for MISO

  • Queue entries, re-synced every 15 minutes
  • Schedule-slip tracking — we keep the previous and new withdrawal, completion and commercial-operation dates
  • Alerts when a project's status changes or it withdraws
  • Daily queued-capacity history by status and fuel type
  • Points of interconnection as mapped geometry
  • Parcel boundaries and ownership within the footprint
  • Not loaded yet: Load and pricing zone boundaries
  • Not loaded yet: Substations
  • Not loaded yet: Utility feeder hosting capacity within the footprint

Queue entries are the ISO's own records, republished rather than recalculated. Capacity figures are what the developer reported at filing, and queued megawatts are not deliverable megawatts — several markets allocate deliverability separately from queue position.

Frequently asked questions

What is the MISO Definitive Planning Phase?

MISO evaluates interconnection requests through a staged process whose final study stage groups projects into a Definitive Planning Phase cycle, studied together, with identified network upgrades allocated among the participants. Procedures across every US market are being revised under FERC Order 2023, so confirm the current stages and cycle timing with MISO.

Why does the Midwest and South split matter?

MISO operates as two regions with limited transfer capability between them, which affects congestion, pricing, and how upgrades are planned. A project's economics can depend on which side of that seam it sits, so it is worth establishing early rather than treating the footprint as uniform.

What does mapped POI data give me that a queue table does not?

A queue row names an interconnection point in free text. Mapped POI geometry lets you ask the geographic question instead: which interconnection points are near this site, and how much capacity is already queued at each. MISO is currently the only market where we carry that as mapped data.

Do you have parcel ownership across MISO?

Only in Minnesota today. The queue, the points of interconnection, and the timing history cover the whole footprint, but parcel boundaries and ownership are limited to Minnesota within MISO. If you develop elsewhere in the footprint and the land layer matters to you, tell us — coverage requests drive what we buy next.

How current is the queue data?

We re-pull the MISO queue every fifteen minutes and keep every snapshot, so you get each project's status and date history rather than only its present state, with alerts when a project withdraws or moves its dates.

Queue data is republished from MISO'sown public interconnection queue postings. We do not independently verify it, and where our records differ from the ISO's published queue the ISO's data governs. Queue entries reflect what a developer reported at the time of filing: capacity figures, in-service dates, and points of interconnection all change, and a project appearing in the queue is not evidence that it will be built.

Queued capacity is not deliverable capacity. Several markets allocate deliverability separately from queue position, so a project can hold a queue position without being able to deliver energy, and aggregate queued megawatts should not be read as committed supply.

Descriptions of interconnection processes on this page are general summaries. Interconnection rules are being revised across every market under FERC Order 2023 and its compliance filings, so procedures, timelines and study structures change. Nothing here is legal or engineering advice or a substitute for the ISO's current tariff and business practice manuals — confirm applicable requirements with the ISO.
