ERCOT Interconnection Queue Map
The fastest interconnection process in the country, mapped — with zone boundaries and the date history that shows which projects are actually moving.

Connect and manage changes what the queue means
ERCOT covers roughly ninety percent of Texas load on an electrically islanded grid that sits outside FERC jurisdiction. It also takes a fundamentally different approach to interconnection: rather than requiring that every project be deliverable before it connects, ERCOT connects projects and manages the resulting congestion.
The consequence is that interconnection in Texas is dramatically faster and cheaper than in the cluster-study markets, which is the main reason the state has built more utility-scale solar than anywhere else in the country. It also means the queue is a weaker signal of scarcity here — getting connected was never the hard part.
If interconnection is easy, the risk moved somewhere else
What replaces interconnection cost as the central risk is congestion. A project connects, and then discovers what the local network does to its output and its basis. Curtailment and nodal price separation, not upgrade assessments, are what determine whether an ERCOT project performs.
That makes the queue useful for a different purpose: understanding how much generation is arriving around you and how quickly. We re-pull the ERCOT queue every fifteen minutes and retain each snapshot, so you can see the rate at which capacity is being added near a site, which projects are slipping, and which have withdrawn.
What Sungarden loads for ERCOT
- Queue entries, re-synced every 15 minutes
- Schedule-slip tracking — we keep the previous and new withdrawal, completion and commercial-operation dates
- Alerts when a project's status changes or it withdraws
- Daily queued-capacity history by status and fuel type
- Load and pricing zone boundaries
- Not loaded yet: Points of interconnection as mapped geometry
- Not loaded yet: Substations
- Not loaded yet: Parcel boundaries and ownership within the footprint
- Not loaded yet: Utility feeder hosting capacity within the footprint
Queue entries are the ISO's own records, republished rather than recalculated. Capacity figures are what the developer reported at filing, and queued megawatts are not deliverable megawatts — several markets allocate deliverability separately from queue position.
Frequently asked questions
What does connect and manage mean in practice?
Broadly, ERCOT interconnects a project without first guaranteeing that its full output can be delivered at all times, and manages the resulting constraints operationally — through congestion management and curtailment — rather than requiring network upgrades up front. This makes interconnection faster and cheaper than in deliverability-based markets, and shifts risk from upfront capital cost to ongoing curtailment and basis exposure. Confirm current requirements with ERCOT.
Why is ERCOT interconnection so much faster?
Because the process does not require the project to be fully deliverable before connecting. Cluster-study markets spend years determining and allocating the network upgrades needed to deliver new capacity firmly. ERCOT largely does not, which removes both the study time and the upfront upgrade cost.
If interconnection is easy, what should I screen for instead?
Congestion and basis. The question in Texas is rarely whether you can connect; it is what the local network does to your output and your realised price once you do. Understanding how much generation is queued and arriving near a site is a proxy for how that congestion picture is likely to develop.
Does ERCOT being outside FERC jurisdiction matter to me?
It matters mainly in that the FERC Order 2023 interconnection reforms reshaping the other US markets do not apply to ERCOT in the same way, so its process diverges further from theirs over time. ERCOT operates under Texas state oversight through the Public Utility Commission of Texas. Confirm applicable requirements with ERCOT and the PUCT.
Do you carry Texas parcel data?
Not today. Parcel boundaries and ownership are limited to New York and Minnesota, so in ERCOT territory you get the queue, zone boundaries, timing history and alerts, but not a land layer underneath them. Texas parcel coverage is a frequent request and coverage requests drive what we buy next.

Queue data is republished from ERCOT'sown public interconnection queue postings. We do not independently verify it, and where our records differ from the ISO's published queue the ISO's data governs. Queue entries reflect what a developer reported at the time of filing: capacity figures, in-service dates, and points of interconnection all change, and a project appearing in the queue is not evidence that it will be built.
Queued capacity is not deliverable capacity. Several markets allocate deliverability separately from queue position, so a project can hold a queue position without being able to deliver energy, and aggregate queued megawatts should not be read as committed supply.
Descriptions of interconnection processes on this page are general summaries. Interconnection rules are being revised across every market under FERC Order 2023 and its compliance filings, so procedures, timelines and study structures change.
